Our adult learning options change each season, so if there is something that you particularly want to study, please let Pastor Katherine know!
Action 30 Mondays for 30 minutes!
Would you like to make a difference in the world and don't know where to start? Come on Monday evenings at 7:00 beginning for 30 minutes to join the movement for positive change! Each week we will have a brief presentation giving facts on an issue of social justice which we can address, a brief time of conversation and brainstorming, and a concrete action that can be done while we are gathered together. These might include making a video to send to members of Congress, writing letters, or targeted phone calls. Issues will include: LGBTQ rights, economic justice, racial justice, educational reform, election reform, immigration, food insecurity, etc. Each participant is requested to bring $5 to help with cost of materials and speakers. Everyone is welcome, and we encourage you to bring friends who would like to make a positive difference. If you have questions, please address them to Pastor Katherine at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sunday morning Bible Study
We have had a wonderful response to our short-term Bible studies at the 9:00 am hour, now meeting in the small purple classroom in the basement! We are now studying the Book of Isaiah. Bring your favorite translation and join us! David Foster is our current teacher.
We have several on-going fellowship opportunities, which are interest related.
Bad Girls UMW
This fun group for women takes their name from a Bible Study they used several years ago, Bad Girls of the Bible. Somehow the name stuck. They meet one Wednesday a month, either in a home or at a restaurant for conversation, support, prayer and conversation (was that already mentioned?) All women are welcome!
Short-term Mission Events
Want to make a difference for a day? Recent events have included candy-making to raise money for program ministries at the church, work at The Night Ministry, packing food for Feed My Starving Children, and serving food at Community Feast, a feeding ministry at United Church of Rogers Park. If this interests you, email Hope Chernich, our program minister, at email@example.com and let her know.
