At Irving Park United Methodist Church, music is an essential part of worship. Each Sunday service features a blend of contemporary and traditional hymns. The songs we sing help us praise and adore, mourn and grieve, celebrate and uplift, and raise our voices as a community.

There are several ways to become a part of the Music Ministry at IPUMC.  If you love music, don't miss the service in Hymns and Songs on Sunday, February 26 at 10:00 am.  To request a favorite, email the church office!

If you have a musical talent, but do not have the time to join a large ensemble, consider becoming a part of IPUMC’s Special Music Team. Members of the Team will be asked to sign up to help provide special music on a specific Sunday. Do you play guitar? Do you have an old violin that you haven’t played in awhile? Do you find yourself singing in the car? Consider sharing that talent during worship!

Members of the Special Music Team will work closely with IPUMC’s Music Director, Jonathan Braun. One-on-one rehearsals can be scheduled as needed.

Team members can either perform Special Music as a soloist, or can play/sing along with Jonathan during worship.

Seasonal Choir

IPUMC’s Choir meets seasonally to provide special music for Advent and Lent.  Rehearsals start 3-4 weeks before each season, and continue weekly throughout the season. Rehearsals for the advent and Christmas season will begin on Sunday, December 4 and will be held weekly from 9:15-9:45 am.  Music will be available to rehearse at home as well.

“It has been a pleasure these more recent years of singing in the choir again. This has always added to my faith experience, giving it more depth and meaning.  There is an added dimension to praising God - telling of the joys and trials of the Christian life, as told through music and song.” – Joyce
